“Our class was worth every penny! The quality of instruction, the energy, and the confidence my child gained made it feel like an investment in his future rather than just a class. We really felt like the instructor saw him as an individual and nurtured his wild energy in productive ways. We signed up for a second session after the second week of classes!”

Your Top Questions, Answered Here!

I’m not Scottish – why would I choose Highland dance? Our Highland Littles program is an introduction to all dance and life skills, rather than specifically Highland. We have and love dancers from many backgrounds, and often our dance family fills the gap that cultural community creates. And if your dancer loves it, rest assured that Highland is no longer a sport just for Scottish people – dancers of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds participate around the world!

What is the structure of classes? Each class follows a routine of circle dancing, singing and movement time, learning highland and dance movements, and finishing with an agility-increasing movement ‘obstacle’ course.

Will my child be required to perform at the end of the program? Not unless they want to! If they are interested, there are a variety of Campbell Dancers performances they can join throughout the year, but none are mandatory.

What should my child wear to class? Comfortable, form fitting clothing that won’t get in their way as they move. The outfit they get in their welcome package is a perfect place to start! On their feet, they can be barefoot, wear highland dance ghillies, ballet slippers, or any other type of dance shoe.

Do we need any special equipment for the program? Nope! Other than a water bottle, everything needed is provided.

What if my child has never danced before? That’s perfect! Highland Littles classes are the exact right place for your little one who has no dance experience. All that’s needed is their curiosity and excitement.

What if my child is shy or hesitant to participate? Totally normal! The gentle and kind teachers, who know that kids are sometimes shy and unsure, will help your child gain confidence week after week until they can’t wait to come back! It is very normal for some children to need to observe how the class progresses before they feel comfortable participating, and we encourage each child to join in however feels comfortable for them (this is often harder on the parent than for the child!)

Are there sibling discounts or family pricing? Yes! A sibling discount of $25/child will automatically be applied when you register!

Are there multiple session options? We offer 3 sessions throughout the year; Fall, Winter, and Spring.

What if my child has allergies or specific learning needs? Wonderful! Children of all abilities and needs are welcome at Campbell Dancers. You can rest assured that your child’s teacher understands and accepts a variety of learners, and has the skills to teach them the way they need. Our teachers are specifically trained in neurodivergence, learning differences that affect movement, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and low muscle tone, and physical needs! We understand that every dancer is a beautiful individual with specific and varying needs, and that makes them wonderful.

“I loved how straightforward and family-friendly the program was. It made joining and participating such a joy for me and my little ones! I was worried about being the only ‘dad’ in a dance class and about bringing two kids, but I didn’t need to worry. The vibe was so relaxed and fun. It was a real bonding experience for me and my daughters, plus they got to see me dancing and being silly every week, which they loved. We now play “Dance Class” before bed most nights and of course, they’re the teachers making me do silly things.”
